FID due soon on Etinde block off Cameroon

Project partners currently analysing data collected from wells drilled so far

A final investment decision is due to be made on the New Age-operated Etinde block off Cameroon by the end of the year, or early next year, project partner Bowleven said.

The Africa-focused player said, together with its partners, it is analysing data collected from the 2018 appraisal drilling programme, which led to new discoveries and further improved understanding of the reservoir.

The project partners are also currently proceeding with engineering design studies to assess the engineering and commercial feasibility of all available development options.

The partners expect to discuss and agree a preferred development solution or solutions in the near future, Bowleven said.

Eli Chahin, chief executive of Bowleven said: “The 2018 appraisal drilling programme further strengthened our understanding of Etinde and has been vital in progressing our thinking on the development of this significant asset with proven and probable resource of 1 trillion cubic feet of wet gas in place.

“We continue to move towards selecting a development plan with our joint venture partners which we expect to culminate in a FID in the coming months,” Chahin said.

Etinde FID decision expected in late 2019 or early 2020.
