Equinor nod for Alve extension

Safety body gives approval for 15-year extension for Norne satellite in Norwegian Sea

Equinor has gained approval from the authorities to extend the producing lifetime of subsea facilities at its Alve field in the Norwegian Sea.

The Petroleum Safety Authority has given its consent for the field’s infrastructure to be used for an additional 15 years beyond its scheduled operating lifetime that was due to expire at the end of 2021.

Alve was brought on stream in 2009 with a four-slot subsea template and three production wells tied back to the Norne floating production, storage and offloading vessel in a water depth of 370 metres.

State-controlled operator Equinor has also recently gained official approval to extend the producing lifetime of the Norne field to 2036 in order to tap additional resources and surrounding satellite fields.
