Shearwater to shoot in Barents

Surveys to be carried out for Lundin and Spirit in northernmost Hoop area of frontier Arctic play off Norway

Shearwater GeoServices has secured work with Lundin Norway and Spirit Energy to carry out so-called Isometrix 3D seismic surveys in the frontier Barents Sea off Norway.

The award with Lundin is the first under a newly minted master services agreement with the Swedish player and will entail a seismic shoot covering 180 square kilometres in Lundin-operated production licence 965.

Shearwater, a joint venture between Oslo-listed GC Rieber Shipping, Schlumberger and Rasmussen Group, will also carry out a 130 square-kilometre survey for Spirit in the latter’s operated PL962.

Both surveys will be performed by Shearwater’s vessel Amazon Conqueror, starting in the third quarter of this year, across acreage located in the vicinity of OMV’s Wisting find in the northernmost Hoop area of the Barents, to the south-east of the Bear Island nature reserve.

No values were disclosed for the awards.
